Building the Cyber Workforce Pipeline

Fontana Unified School District’s (FUSD) Career Technical Education (CTE) program highlights our region’s cybersecurity career preparation pipeline for middle and high school students. This year, partnerships with California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), Tomorrow’s Talent, and the LAUNCH Apprenticeship Network are providing an introduction to the cyber industry for middle schools — with on-campus student engagement workshops, exposure to the latest cyber tech gadgets/drones/robotics, an 8th grade virtual cyber camp, and Spring field trip for CSUSB’s tour of the campus, security operations center, and cyber research lab.

FUSD CTE middle school students in 2025–26 get introduced to CSUSB’s Inland Empire Cybersecurity Initiative (IECI) aimed at mentoring students on their pathway through middle/high school, participating community colleges, CSUSB’s cyber program, and on to amazing careers. CSUSB/LAUNCH & Tomorrow’s Talent’s Cyber Defense Coaches have campus visit schedules throughout the academic year for discussing career preparation roadmaps, internships, apprenticeships, scholarships, and an abundance of support and resources available along the IECI education and training pipeline.
